Independent film community

  1. Independent Film Community
    Use, Time, Transform
    The space program.
The proposed program is to create an interactive experience that brings the independent film community from film makers and producers to fans and followers under a hub that starts to suggest a culture of its own. The interactive experience doesn’t stop at the professional or social aspect of the project, but it goes beyond that to the actual form of the space.
    Thesis
“Multi-use” buildings spatial programs tends to allow a diverse targeted users spectrum, generaly from private to public and what falls in between to access a buildings space. Commonly, this is done by catogarizing users and assign designated spaces / zones within a building as per the space’s function and users requirement. This strategy does create a user and functional mix, however it limits the intended user experience, and mainly users that fall under the semi-private to public range. This also limits the Architects spatial intentions that should reach the targeted users from all levels.
The objective of the “Independent Film Community” design is to maximize on the spatial experience by capitalizing on each of the buildings space functions. Time is a significant factor that starts to suggest multi usage within a specific space, however, this doesn’t enrich the spatial experience but only makes it multi-functional and spacialy efficient. Adding third dynamic such as the physical transformation of the space takes the architecture to a level of achieving a greater complex experience due to the nature of its interactivenss by masses that nest smaller masses that move, slip and unfold based on the time and use or desired function.
